About the Programme
Electrical and electronic systems underpin almost every aspect of modern life. The MPhil in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) provides a focused opportunity for graduates to develop advanced knowledge and specialist skills in this dynamic and rapidly evolving field. While the Cambridge Engineering Tripos offers a broad foundation across engineering disciplines, this MPhil enables students to explore electrical and electronic engineering in greater depth, including areas such as RF and space electronics, VLSI design, micro- and nanofabrication, and advanced characterisation techniques. The programme also welcomes graduates from related disciplines such as Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Materials Science who wish to gain specialist expertise relevant to EEE.
Developed by the Electrical Engineering Division following extensive consultation, the MPhil in EEE combines taught modules, research training, and an individual research project. It is designed to equip students with the theoretical understanding, practical competence, and innovation skills required to engage with cutting-edge developments in electrical and electronic engineering. The programme provides a solid foundation for those seeking to progress to doctoral study or to apply advanced engineering methods and technologies in professional practice.
